We are selling Android TV boxes for years and received a problem with the 100M and 1000M Ethernet. What’s the difference? Which one do you choose?

Below are the main differences.

  1. Different maximum transmission speeds
    • 100M LAN: the maximum transmission speed is 100Mbps.
    • 1000M LAN: the maximum transmission speed can reach 1000Mbps.
  2. Maximum peak speed is different
    • 100M LAN: 100Mb network card peak transmission speed is: 100Mb/s divided by 8= 12.5mb/s.
    • 1000M LAN: 1000M network card peak transmission speed is: 1000Mb/s divided by 8=125MB/s.
  3. Different devices
    • 100M LAN: the 100MB network uses five types of cables. The 100 MB device port indicator is bright yellow, matching the 100 MB network.
    • 1000M LAN: 1000M networks use six classes of network cables. The 1000M device port indicator is bright green and matches 1000MB networks

If only for home use, the 100M network will be enough for most of the time.

If you’re using an Android TV box that supports 1000M, but you only have 100M of Internet at home. In that case, your box can not work the 1000M internet. Similarly, if your box is 100M, the home network is 1000m, then your box is not working with the 1000M. As long as the android box corresponds to the home network, it works just as well.
